A year ago, a group of people gathered in Santa Ana, CA for the inaugural edition of Camp Frida.  For 12 hours  the campers were entertained by back to back to back to back to etc horror movies. Led by Camp Counselor  Ally, who sadly did not survive the night, campers watched a variety of films from The Evil Dead to Evil Dead 2. In between films included Sleepaway Camp, The Burning, and “Wheel of Jason” winner, Friday the 13th (Part IV): The Final Chapter. It was an amazing event and for those of us campers who attend, a night we won’t soon forget.

Now it’s time to return to the scene of the crime as the second go round of Camp Frida will be held on October 6th at The Frida Cinema in downtown Santa Ana. Just like last year the event will run from 8pm Saturday  Night until 8am (or so) Sunday Morning. This year’s edition is called Camp Frida Undead. An appropriate title since I have heard rumors that the late Camp Counselor Ally may have  risen from her grave and making her way back to the camp.

While the list of horror classics is a secret until they show up on the screen, Camp Frida has announced the first title. From writer Quentin Tarantino and director Robert Rodriguez, the night kicks off with From Dusk till Dawn. Vampires, zombies, ghosts, and anything else that just won’t stay dead is likely to be featured .

Dress comfortably because it’s going to be a long night and even though the snack bar will  be open all night, feel free to bring your own rations with you as well.

Camp Registration is $20 a camper. and gets you access to the films, camp activities, and the opportunity to earn an assortment of Camp Frida goodies! There will be  an extra special gift to everyone who stays for the entire marathon!

I’ll be there in my HorrorBuzz shirt so if you see me, make sure to say “Hi.” Get your tickets here before they run out.
