I’ve always been fascinated by performing days of old, especially when it comes to circus and sideshow presentations. I’ve read countless books on the subject, and it always bummed me out that I seemed to have been born in the wrong century to explore them for myself.
That changes this summer, though, the debut immersive theater production of THE SIDESHOW from CoAct Productions. This unique, hour-long performance will have audience members experience the evocative memories of an early circus performer. Interacting with characters, they will encounter historical influencers of that era, as they explore and uncover the temptations that wait beneath the big top in the 1930s. On top of that, there will be an elegant dessert and wine pairing. How could you go wrong?!
In order to help fund this experience, CoAct Productions is launching a Kickstarter, in which you can purchase pre-sale tickets to the sale or donate to receive exclusive, one-of-a-kind incentives. Not only will the funding help pay for the venue, actors, and the amazing desserts, but it will also help deliver the high-quality production elements that a show of this nature deserves.
Though this is the debut production for CoAct Productions, the folks behind it are no strangers to immersive theater. The founder of CoAct Productions is Lynside Scoggin, who has been working in the space since 2010. Most recently, she was the creative producer for Safehouse ’77, the wonderful immersive spy-themed show from earlier this year. Joining Scoggin is Nick Rheinwald-Jones, who created Safehouse ’77, and will be writing this show as well. To round out the bunch is Danielle Levesque, who has numerous Hollywood credits to her name.
Between the subject matter and the creative team, THE SIDESHOW is sure to be an incredible show. Immersive theater fans and foodies, I urge you to help support this production. I am incredibly excited to see how this unfolds.
