Ghost Wars is set in the remote Alaskan town of Port Moore that has something very bizarre going on and I can’t wait to find out what it is.

Roman Mercer, played by Avan Jogia, is an outcast of a special paranormal gift. As the town sinks deeper into paranormal despair and the bodies continue to pile up, Roman must decide if and how to use his powers in order to liberate Port Moore from this plague of supernatural events.

Father Dan Carpenter (Vincent D’Onofrio) is the town’s priest who rallies the town together after this paranormal rift is opened. Father Dan’s wickedly mighty religious perspective adds to the towns mistrust of Roman.

Adding more fuel to the town’s fire is Doug Rennie played by Meatloaf. The antagonist bully who relentlessly harasses Roman and throws the proverbial middle finger to the town as it is being over run with paranormal events.

Landis Barker played by Kandyse McClure (Carrie, Battlestar Galactica)

It would seem as if Roman does have at least one person on his side. Landis Barker played by Kandyse McClure (Carrie, Battlestar Galactica) is a theoretical physicist trying to find the scientific explanation and solution to the chaos. What is a theoretical physicist doing in a small Alaskan town? I don’t know but I am hoping we find out.

On what type of horror this series is Kandyse McClure said, “It’s not pretty people screaming.”

Ghost Wars executive producer/writer Dennis Heaton (Fido) was trying to pay “homage to ’80s horror” minus the cheeseball ’80s special effects. The show is more eerie horror than gore; although there are some chilling and gross effects to appease those who enjoy that sort of thing. When speaking of the character base of the main character Roman, Heaton described him as “what happened to the kid from sixth sense if he didn’t get therapy.”

I like where this is going.

Ghost Wars plays on the themes of prejudice, bias and politics while also giving a social commentary coupled with a spine-chilling ghost story. Dim the lights, grab some snacks and delve into the mysterious happenings of Ghost Wars on the SYFY this fall.

About the Author

Erin Jefferson-Foley (Mommy Fearest) is terrified of scary movies, gore and zombies. But she loves all things Halloween and Haunt related! Slowly but surely she has been dipping her toes into the realm of horror movies with great results. Pretty soon she will work her way up to watching a scary movie when it is dark outside. Erin has had a love affair with theme park Halloween events for the past 20 years. Her first time at an event was at Knott's Scary Farm in the late 80s when a family friend, a Knott's employee, escorted her into the park to watch Elvira and give her a behind the scenes tour. She was intrigued as she walked through the break room and realized that they were just people in masks and makeup. It seemed like only a short time later, Erin was performing for Halloween Haunt which led to her meeting the love of her life, her husband. Each year she cheers on her husband and his friends as they set up and run a home haunt. You can catch her helping with line control and repeating the same instructions over and over and over to the guests each night. She has been a professional dancer and actress for over 20 years. When she is not in the studio teaching dance or in her office writing, you can catch Mommy Fearest with her husband and two kids at various conventions throughout California. She enjoys Cosplay, Star Wars, Renaissance Faires, Halloween, haunted attractions, paranormal happenings, special effects makeup and horrible reality television shows.
