We’ve had many good things to say about Drunken Devil and their incredibly lavish parties that they throw. A few times a year, everyone’s favorite alcohol-soaked fallen angel appears from the depths of the abyss to throw one hell of a party, allowing us mere mortals to dance along with him.

Their latest effort will continue to astound, with a theme right up my alley: that of the colorful and kitschy mid-century tiki culture. Drunken devils and tiki drinks? COUNT ME IN.

After a string of wonderful events, Drunken Devil continues its streak with an all-new summer soirée entitled Curse of the Jungle Drums. This evening of fun and fright will integrate elements of immersive theatre, live music, burlesque, magic, disco, and free-flowing booze at a secret location in Downtown LA. As each production is more opulent than the last, we cannot wait to see what freaky tiki dangers await us here.

From their press release:

In Curse of the Jungle Drums, guests will be transported to Pele’s Hideaway, an imagined, lavish tiki bar in Hollywood, circa 1954. Back from an exotic expedition, a famous explorer has brought a mysterious idol to the bar’s owner as a gift; the idol is cursed, however, and causes the club-goers to go mad. Guests will arrive moments after the curse has taken effect, and will be able to interact with some of the newly undead patrons, piecing together a horror-fueled narrative throughout the evening.

Haunted, cursed tiki bars? Yes, please.

As the party goes on, as will the story unfold around guests. The open bar will be sponsored by Lemon Hart & Son Rum, featuring a host of tiki cocktails as well as other spirits, beer, and wine.

There will also be complimentary tarot card readings, strolling magicians (such as Drunken Devil alum Jimmy H and sleight-of-hand artist Henry Springer), and an interactive photo booth!

Setting the mood musically will be The Jennifer Keith Quintet, whom are regular performers at Clifton’s and The Queen Mary, performing 1950s nightclub standards. In between sets, guests will enjoy exotica-inspired burlesque acts, featuring resident performer Scarlette Fox, Drunken Devil alum Jessabelle Thunder, and Olivia Bellafontaine (no relation to Harry, as far as we know).  And of course, at 11PM, the lights will be replaced by the mirror ball, as DJ Aiden Ramos spins his vinyl for a disco dance party.

Curse of the Jungle Drums will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at a secret location in DTLA. Location will be revealed to ticket-holders the day before the event. Doors open at 8:00pm, and the event concludes at 1:00am.

Tickets will be $75, but prices will go up starting July 1st, so grab yours today! You can also jump on the Sinners’ Club membership as well, to get exclusive access to ALL their parties this year.

This event is 21+. As always, the Drunken Devil invites his guests to dress to impress; attire should reflect the colorful, kitschy fashion of 1950’s exotica and tiki culture.

Tickets available at www.thedrunkendevil.com/jungledrums.
