The jazz was playing, the booze was flowing, and debauchery was in full swing. I even got beads around my neck! And while no, I wasn’t in New Orleans, I was in full Mardi Gras spirit at Drunken Devil’s latest endeavor, Bloody Gras!

Based on the hedonism of Mardi Gras, and the seedy history of New Orleans in general, Bloody Gras was held in the Arts District and took people back to a simpler time, allowing us to get our party on with a bit of horror-infused fun. Walking in, we were greeted by a voodoo priestess at her altar, before making our way further in to find tattered banners hanging from the ceiling, along with flower bouquets adorned with severed heads. Just perfect for our night of madness that was to come.

As are all of their gatherings, the Drunken Devil ticket price included an open bar, and boy, was the alcohol great. On tap were plenty of drinks inspired by Mardi Gras, with a little devilish flair. The hurricane was especially delicious, if I do say so myself.

Of course, burlesque was also on hand, with the lovely and talented performers Scarlette Fox, Madeline Sinclaire, and Jessabelle Thunder bringing their own unique talents to the proceedings. All eyes were on them the moment they hit the stage, and let me tell you, no one looked away!

In between sets, a wonderful Dixieland band played, really infusing the atmosphere even more with a nice touch of New Orleans flair. Wandering the grounds were all sorts of magicians and performers as well. I got a lovely (NSFW) accessory from Scott Michael, saw Micah Cover do some amazing things while blindfolded, and interacted with Twirly the Clown, one of my favorite performers.

As if that wasn’t enough, there was also an immersive experience to be had, if you knew who to talk to. The Axe Man’s spirit was rumored to be stalking the streets, and it was up to us to try to banish him. After finding Josephine, in her red flapper dress, and making sure to get her the drink she wanted, she was able to tell us what we needed to try to stop him. From there, we had an encounter with a voodoo priestess and a botched ceremony. But alas, the Axe Man came, and terrorized those in attendance for the rest of the evening! It was a really cool touch to add to already filled night of fun, so kudos to the Drunken Devil team for adding a little more!

Of course, the Drunken Devil himself was also on hand, mingling with guests and acting as the MC for the evening. It’s always pleasure to see him, because he certainly throws one hell of a party.

Drunken Devil has really hit their stride in horror themed entertainment. These parties are always a lot of fun, and Matt Dorado, the man behind it all, certainly keeps it engaging. There is never a dull moment at any of these get-togethers.

Seriously, you do not want to miss the Drunken Devil shenanigans in the future. Matt and his team really do an excellent job, and the fun never stops. I’ve heard rumors of what their next event will entail, and I am very excited!
