We saved the very best for one of the very last.

Black Christmas

We bring another 25 days of Christmas horror pick to you that is probably one of the very best holiday horror films ever made. Bob Clark’s BLACK CHRISTMAS was a moderate box office success and a critical flop upon release, but has since become a cult classic among horror aficionados and cinema buffs alike.  It’s the story of a sorority house who is slowly being picked off over Christmas. The movie has the lush production values of a 70’s T.V. drama and just as much restraint in the gore department. There are also some fun scenes with a young Margot Kidder and the obscene phone caller that is, calling from, well, just watch the movie.

According to lore, the original script for the film featured murder scenes that were a lot bloodier. Clark however felt that it would be more effective if the murders were toned down and made more subtle on screen. It is also said that Clark devised the title BLACK CHRISTMAS rejecting writer Moore’s original title STOP ME.

There really isn’t anything else that says the holidays like hacked up college chicks.
