What’s this? What’s this? another Christmas Horror movie suggestion? Of course it is! As part of the 25 Days of Christmas Horror we have been offering suggestions for what to watch over the holiday season.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
By now, if you haven’t seen Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas, you must be living under an avalanche. Directed by Henry Selick, Nightmare is the classic fish out of water story of someone so fixated on the grass being greener on the other side that he becomes blind to what he has. Jack the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town is the undisputed master and proprietor of Halloween. In fact, if it weren’t for him, Halloween would not happen. One fateful day, Jack happens into Christmas Town and discovers a holiday of cacophonous color and white things in the air (snow). Jack sees an opportunity to take over a new holiday and all heck breaks loose. While the music is mostly phenomenal, this movie features richly detailed stop motion animation, Academy Award nominated special effects work, and some of the most wicked humor you will find in a family film. This is a holiday classic and another example of mandatory viewing for the holidays.
