The original theme park haunt, Knott’s Scary Farm, is nearing the end of what is certainly one of their very best years to date. Over the years, the level of quality in the mazes, the attention to detail, the tactic of the scares and the talent of the actors has been rising. Where else can you investigate a sanitarium for paranormal activity, visit the creepy barn at the end of town, or walk the shadowlands of Japan? But there is more to this haunt than an epic collection of mazes. Scattered throughout the park are four different scare zones, each unique in their theme and scares. As Knott’s Scary Farm heads into the final weekend of operation for 2016, we look at these patches of terror throughout the park and remind you, there is still time to see it all!

Fiesta De Los Muertos

Fiesta De Los Muertos fuses dance music, colorful costumes, and larger than life stilt walkers in a dance party scare zone. It’s the ultimate late night celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

This is the little scare zone that could. Strolling through the spacious Fiesta Village of the park, guests are playfully pursued by latin themed ghosts and monsters. The tone here is playfully scary and the talent does a phenomenal job hitting just the right approach.

The Hollow

New this season, The Hollow scare zone will terrorize guests as the ominous Headless horseman prowls the fog-filled streets along with his army of the undead, treacherously blending into the shadowy night as they frighten all whom they encounter.

Ken recently studied the folklore surrounding this particular scare zone in a full article HERE. Regardless we would be loathe if we didn’t share what just be one of the better freshman efforts of a zone in a while. Fierce, startling and savage, The Hollow is an earthy, grimy, rustic nightmare.

On the Boardwalk, clowns crave your undying attention in the CarnEVIL scare zone.

As a coulrophobic, this writer has had to let his clowns grow on him. They are terrifying. They eat souls. They taunt, tease, and chase everyone in their domain. Yet, twisted freaks have become family to me. I love them like a vampire loves blood.

Certainly the snarliest of the Scare Zones, CarnEvil is aggressively savage in their pursuit of scares.

Ghost Town

Ghost Town Streets is the original and largest, most terrifying scare zone that started it all.   Bands of half-human, half-animal monsters prowl the streets and inhabit the fog, while the notoriously startling sliders, lunge from every fog-filled corner of the land.

C’mon.  This is the holy ground of haunts if there ever was one. Walter Knott allowed employees and vendors to scare up some decorations is a section of the park and from this spawned an entire industry of theme park Halloween Events (not to mention that this is the birthplace of sliders).  Ghost Town is still one of the very best freeform scare zones in the world and with good reason. Yes, it is THE original but Knott’s only holds the very best of the best monsters for this section of the park. Oh then there is Fog Alley. Simply the best.
