The “Twisted” Soska twins (Jen and Sylvia) are back bitches!!! We had a chance to meet these fabulously devious horror icons at the recent HHN Opening event, and they allowed us a sneak peak of the new season of their absolutely hysterically funny Game Show Network hit “Hellevator.”

Now we are horror people, we are haunt people, and in my household every haunt season there are two things that give us great joy, visiting our favorite haunts, and watching others get freaked the hell out visiting our favorite haunts.  So last season Hellevator was kind of like watching extended segments on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she sends her hapless assistants through a maze each year just to scare the crap out of them.   (Yep are sick and truly consider that entertainment.)

We are huge fans of the Soska Twins, and know the detail and overall scare factor the twin’s talented production team are capable of unleashing on unsuspecting victims,  so it’s a delight to see what they cook up each episode for the small teams that dare to take a trip.

Speaking of cooking, this year starts out with an episode entitled “Chefs”, where you guessed it, a group of culinary students descend into the depths of the enormous horror warehouse, titled appropriately “The Slaughterhouse,”  to face challenges centered around the 7 deadly sins (Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Greed and Sloth.)  Yes every episode not only are the challenges (played for up to $50,000 cash) different, but the Soska’s develop a detailed and (based on true events) horrific backstory to further freak out the contestants.   In this case we meet the hillbilly cannibal and part-time chef “Earl” who seems to have have missed most of the basics of kitchen food safety, but then again he probably just ate the health inspector anyway.

So four cooking school friends, all dressed in their best white coats and chef hats enter the lobby all neat and tidy:

  • Angelea is the team leader, worried she will buckle under pressure
  • Dorri wants to beat the Twins badly but is afraid of snakes
  • Gabe who looks scared even talking about being scared
  • and Robert who thinks they will just mess with his head

I won’t spoil the “meat” of the horrors that they face, but the episode is ripe with the kind of gross out moments you would expect from a chainsaw wielding amateur butcher, and the Soska’s are in great form manically quipping from their torture control room, while lamenting every challenge won.

Heating things up this season is the inferno cell,  basically a human oven where contestants who fail to beat challenges end up and bake until the end of the game where (if anyone has made it past the initial tortures) the remaining team have to face a series of even tougher challenges to earn big money and hopefully save their trapped friends in the process.

Let’s face it, the HorrorBuzz staff would probably be the most boring group they could send through an episode.  (Hell we know most of the monsters!!!) But we still get a sense of childlike Halloween glee watching others lose their minds in the dark.

This year Hellevator is a four-week special event, that will air starting Friday, October 7th at 9pm ET/PT on the Game Show Network.  If your out in the fog, set your DVR, because trust me they have upped the game since last year and you won’t want to miss it.
