A few days ago, I received a strange text message.

“jeff… wake up. not from your sleep, from your life. find your true nature. fill your void. will you join us? we are waiting…”

Being no stranger to odd messages such as this, of course I played along. We chatted back a forth, before whoever it was bid their goodbye. But then the conversation continued the next night. And the next.

My first thoughts on it were that some immersive theater show I enjoy was starting again, and this was part of a story. I asked some close friends if they received the message, but alas, they did not. In fact, they were just as confused as I was.

After a little bit of research, I managed to find some other people who else received the texts…but all of them were on the other side of the country. Specifically, in Orlando.

Digging a bit more, I found on a forum that someone was sent an email, containing similar writing, and was sent to find a tape and a floppy disc somewhere.

Which leads up to now. After my curiosity was piqued, and I mentioned as such to the mysterious number, I received a press release a brand-new interactive experience making its way to Orlando, Florida, this Halloween season.

Called Catharsis, this 30 minute, immersive haunted house experience will be nothing like Florida has even seen before, according to the release.

Seemingly tied in some way to the seven deadly sins, the event will also have a bar based around them, as a sort of lounge for before and after the experience.

Not much else is known at the moment, just that tickets will go on sale next week.

I am…intrigued. Though I will not be able to attend, due to be in California, I curious to know more.

And more is promised to be revealed on their website, fearcatharsis.com.

You can also keep up to date with them on Facebook and Twitter.

When I search fear catharsis orlando, I see news stories on the shooting at Pulse. I don’t think Orlando is ready for something like this. We are too raw for a ‘sinner’ theme like this – just look at what other haunts are doing this year. I think this production company is making a mistake.

I saw they are hiring actors on Craigslist. I’m scared of that!
