The wildly popular and notorious haunted attraction, The 17th Door has just confirmed that they are returning for the 2016 haunt season. The successful haunt enjoyed an impressive first year with a brand new, immersive walk through attraction that featured a real-life storyline of a young girl facing the dangers of college while fighting body image issues.

In an image posted to social media, owner of The 17th Door, Heather Luther confirmed that the haunted attraction will be returning to Orange County, in the same location, with a total of 12 brand new rooms with more interactivity, more scares, and more monsters. It seems there will even be a mini escape room as part of the fun.

We reached out immediately to the creators of this haunt and are awaiting a response. We were left with many more questions than answers at the moment. We would like to know, for instance if the 12 new rooms will be in addition to what was already there or if they will take the place of less effective ones from last year.  Will the attraction have the same storyline or will it be revamped? What about some of the more controversial aspects of the experience?  Will they return or will they be dumbed down (please not that).

The 17th Door was a very impressive freshman effort for the design team behind the attraction, which debuted in Orange County for the 2015 haunt season.  We have faith in this team will only grow and improve with 2016. What we really want to see is if the experience continues with its original take on the haunted house by sticking with real-world horrors as opposed to more fantasy based ideas.  We will keep you posted the second we know something.
