Anne_Dark_Movie_PosterEvery so often you get the chance to help out on something that you really believe in.  We at HorrorBuzz would like to share with you dear readers a new project that is in need of a little assistance. Anne Dark is a new film in development from writer/director Brett Sims.  It tells the story of a teen with dark superpowers who must battle her way through three mystical gates, guarded by the forces of darkness, in order to save the world and enact revenge for her sister’s death.

BRENT SIMS, WRITER/DIRECTOR

Brent Sims is an award-winning writer/director. His past work includes “Grave Shivers” (funded on Kickstarter as “Dreadtime Stories”) which has played 37+ film festivals and won the audience award at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Los Angeles. “Grave Shivers” has been called “an anthology of awesome” by Dread Central. Script Magazine named him one of the hot up-and-coming screenwriters to watch.

Shoggoth_Slug_Final_Anne_DarkSims, is heavily influenced by sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres from the 80s like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Blade Runner, The Last Starfighter, Dune, The Thing, and The Neverending Story. There is a certain practicality to 80s storytelling which he believes felt pure and original. The aim here is to bring the right balance of practical and digital effects, coupled with solid storytelling, to take audiences through worlds uncharted by the human imagination. A lofty goal but one with very good intentions.

A film like this needs the help of the fan community to get it off the ground. Originality faces an uphill battle in a world of sequels and reboots.  How can you help Brent and his team?  But contributing to the kickstarter of course.

“We’ve set out to create an extremely unique world with rich landscapes, costumes, characters, and monsters that have not been seen before,” said Brent Sims, writer/director of Anne Dark. “With the support of a first-class filmmaking team we are pouring the passion and love for 80s sci-fi and horror cinema into Anne Dark.”

Keep your eyes peeled for this original and fascinating film or become a part of it and contribute!
