Pause to let that sink in. The man who gave us the classic horror movie icon Freddy Krueger is coming home to theaters.

Now that 99% of you are attempting to bring down the online movie ticket sites, I have to say this is great news for a horror movie season that has already seen some really strong and original releases.  However, right now, we can’t even find the trailer for this thing.  So we will tell you what we do know…

The effects for the film were created by Robert Kurtzman, of It Follows, Army of Darkness, Scream, and many others fame.

On Halloween night, a group of the most notorious serial killers still alive and kicking, escape from their asylum and happen upon a carnival funhouse, where their gruesome crimes happen to be replicated in gory detail.  The victims, of course, don’t know what is real and what is illusion until they are dragged into the carnage. Only a small band of college kids, and some hapless local law enforcement, try and stop them.

the-funhouse-massacreSo how good could it be?  Well, AMC Independent just picked it up after some rave reviews after its premiere at HorrorHound (where it won Best Feature and Best Special Effects awards) and HorrorShow Film Festival. They have given the film a November release date of…wait for it…Friday the 13th!

We can’t wait to get our hand’s bloodied writing our own review, but in the meantime, block out your schedule in your calendar, finally call that girl (or guy) you’ve been waiting to ask out for date night, and get pre-approved financing for some concessions at the snack bar.  The haunts will be over and it’s movie time once again.
